Neuromuscular Therapy

The clinical application of neuromuscular techniques in European and American settings is very different. When combined, the two approaches complement each other very well. This treatment method consists of a combination of European neuromuscular technique (NMTq), positional release (PR) muscle energy technique (MET) and a precise and thorough application of massage techniques. A gentle but highly effective therapy.

Sports Massage Therapy

Sports massage therapy utilises Swedish deep tissue massage techniques and modern soft tissue release (STR) guided by an awareness of injury scenarios and muscle imbalance. It can be applied as a “back, neck and shoulders” or full body treatment.

Medical Exercise & Pilates

The clinical application of neuromuscular rehab and training interventions can be fun, challenging and extremely benificial. Often the missing link in muscle tightness issues and neuromuscular imbalances is proprioception. This is a kinesthetic, felt sense of where our body is positioned in space and during movement. Our tolerance to loading, lengthening and shortening tissues in different positions and combinations for different durations is extremely dependant on our communication with our bodies. If you want to reconnect, regain control or just learn to relax then our pilates (originally known as (Control-ogy) based neuromuscular training programs can help.

Kevin Prunty MSc NMT

Kevin is a first generation neuromuscular therapist, experienced educator and creative media enthusiast. In 2001 the first formal course of study in European NMT took place in the national training centre in Dublin. This involved industry leaders from around the world coming together to build a much needed complementary medical profession in Ireland; focused the neglected area of myofascial dysfunction. High quality palpation and assessment skills combined with manual and movement techniques were integrated into the wider context of a biopsychosocial model of care. People in our community who are in need of a fresh perspective and a complementary approach, need only seek out their local NMT, who more than likely was trained at some point by Kevin.

As a fully qualified therapist himself, Kevin has worked with the FAI, GAA, Universities, National primary and secondary schools, corporations, leisure centres and medical device companies, while also operating clinics in Monaghan, Dublin and Cork and now in Tralee, County Kerry.

Kevin has established KP Therapy in the Brandon Hotel, historically, the location of Ireland’s first therapy rooms.
